Bern does have an airport, but with a very limited number of destinations. Flying into one of the larger nearby airports listed below will be the easiest and most convenient option.
Switzerland's excellent rail network also makes it easy to arrive from other European cities. Consider spending a few days in Paris or Milan before coming to us. High-speed rail connections make this surprisingly straightforward, with journeys of approximately 4½ hours from Paris and 3 hours from Milan to Bern. It's a wonderful way to experience a little more of Europe before the celebration.
Arrival
Basel Airport (BSL)
Basel Airport does not have a train station. After arrival, take the airport bus to Basel SBB railway station, then continue by train to Bern. The journey from Basel station to Bern is only an hour.
Zurich Airport (ZRH)
Zurich Airport is the easiest airport for reaching Bern. It has its own train station located directly beneath the terminal. Direct trains to Bern depart every 30 minutes. Travel time is about 1.5 hours. Just follow the signs at the airport – you can’t miss it.
